The Regional Forum Cultural Corridors of South East Europe - common past and shared heritage - a key to future partnership (Varna, 20-21 May 2005) was held under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Georgi Parvanov, the Director General of UNESCO Koichiro Matsuura, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Terry Davis, on the initiative of the Bulgarian President. The subject of the forum was the cultural corridors – centuries-old connections between the peoples in the region, which today are the basis for the regional cooperation, agreement and development. The participants – politicians from the region of highest level, high-ranked representatives of the international organizations and experts carried on a direct and open dialogue. With the Varna Declaration, the Heads of State undertook commitments for joint actions. A multimedia exhibition formed an integral part of the Forum and revealed the image of the heritage using modern technologies.
