UNESCO Headquarters, Paris

UNESCO is in the vanguard of international efforts to protect cultural diversity, tangible and intangible heritage. The organization works for preserving and respecting the specificity of each culture, while ensuring that it preserves and respects the specificities of another culture. The challenge UNESCO and its partners meet is involvement of cultures in an approach that bring them together and extends beyond them in a more interactive and interdependent world.
To achieve its objectives UNESCO seeks to encourage the identification, protection and preservation of cultural and natural heritage around the world, as well as to extend the promotion of the oral and intangible heritage. These aims are embodied in international treaties - Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage and Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
