The Varna Declaration is adopted at the Regional Forum Cultural Corridors of South East Europe (Varna, 20-21 May 2005). It is a result of a true dialogue. During the preparatory phase of the Forum, network of experts from UNESCO, the Council of Europe, the European Commission, ICOMOS and Bulgaria constantly exchanged opinions on the project of the Declaration in a virtual forum of experts. During the Forum itself, the project fostered the dialogue between politicians and experts. A contribution to it has also the Conceptual Framework of UNESCO. With the Declaration, the Heads of States undertook particular commitments for identification, preservation, sustainable use and promotion of the cultural corridors of South East Europe. This website is a practical realization of the Declaration.
