The Muzej Kozara (which is original name of the museum) was founded in 1953. It is a Regional museum with very different types of collections. Among them are the collections of Art: 400 paintings of the Prijedor School; Archaeology: 900 important exhibits, mainly pre-history including two 5th C. Celtic-Illyrian helmets, Roman and some medieval; Ethnology: 400 artefacts of the Kozara region; History: 2,000 documents and other artefacts relating to WWII in the Kozara region.
