A large film manifestation in the Pula Arena – Vespasius Amphitheatre from the 1st century, which for the duration of the Festival becomes one of the largest cinemas in the world (it has a capacity of 5,000 to 8,000 seats). National program – festival of Croatian feature film – is of a competitive character and encompasses productions of Croatian feature film between two festivals. In the international program selected world film productions are shown. The film festival in Pula has been held since 1954 (first as the Festival of Yugoslavian feature film, then in 1992 as the Festival of Croatian film). In 2001 the Pula film festival took on an international character and became the festival of Croatian and European film.
