Expert Networks
South East Europe possesses competent specialists in various fields of the cultural heritage and tourism. Only in the last years, they started working in networks, united by common goals. In the year of 2000 a voluntary network of experts from the region is formed. It successfully created the first maps of the cultural corridors. From the year of 2003, an expert network to the Regional Programme of the Council of Europe and the European Commission for Cultural and Natural Heritage in South East Europe is functioning. For the working out of the projects of the Varna Declaration and the Strategy for the cultural corridors, networks with the participation of experts from UNESCO, the Council of Europe and the European Commission were created. The projects by the Culture 2000 programme of the European Commission are a reason for the creation of partnership networks on particular projects. This website is also a result of a partnership within the framework of a regional network of experts, having the participation of the European Institute of Cultural Routes, Luxembourg. Examples show the formation of a new vision for the cultural heritage in the region as a common value, which requires unified efforts of the experts.
